Terms of Use

These terms cover your use of King’s Gym Trainer, an iPhone app published by Mattronica LLC (“we”) for members of King’s Athletic Club. By using the app you agree to them. If you downloaded it from Apple’s App Store or TestFlight, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; if these terms and Apple’s agreement differ, Apple’s agreement governs your use of the app.

What the app is, and is not

• King’s Gym Trainer helps you plan and log strength workouts on the equipment at King’s Athletic Club and suggests weights and reps from what you logged before.
• Plans from Rey, the app’s coach, are written by an AI model (Claude, from Anthropic) from your answers and your logged training. The app checks them against the club’s equipment, but they can still contain mistakes or suggest something that isn’t right for you.
• The app is not a personal trainer, doctor or physiotherapist, and nothing in it is medical advice.
• King’s Gym Trainer is made by Mattronica LLC. The club’s machines are made by Technogym; the app is not affiliated with or endorsed by Technogym.

Your health and safety

• Check with your doctor before starting a new exercise program, especially if you have an injury, a health condition, or haven’t exercised in a while.
• The gym is unstaffed. Learn how to use each machine before you load it, follow the instructions on the machine, and use the safety catches on the Smith machine.
• Suggested weights and reps are starting points. Choose weights you can lift with good form, and stop if you feel pain, dizziness or shortness of breath.
• You decide what you lift and how, and you take part at your own risk.

Your data

Your workouts are stored on your phone and backed up anonymously, and your answers are sent to Anthropic when you ask Rey for a plan. See the Privacy Policy.

Climb to King

Climb to King is for fun and recognition. Cards and badges have no cash value, and we may change how they work.

Using the app

We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use King’s Gym Trainer on devices you own or control. Don’t misuse it: don’t interfere with its services (such as sending automated requests to Rey), and don’t copy, resell or reverse engineer it except as the law allows. We may limit how often you can ask Rey for a plan.

No warranty

King’s Gym Trainer is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, and we don’t promise that the app, Rey or backups will always be available.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Mattronica LLC is not liable for any injury, or for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, arising from your use of the app or of any workout it suggests. Our total liability for any claim about the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes and law

We may update these terms; the new version will be posted here with a new date, and continuing to use the app means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York.
